Welcome to PopFreeProxies a blog of everything proxy!

To start this blog I will go back to the beginning and simply explain how proxy sites work. This I will follow with, what makes a good proxy and how it can be used. Finally, for those so inclined describe how to create your own proxy site.

Proxy sites simply explained!

Proxy sites are websites that allow you to surf the web browsing your favourite sites while masking your computer details. This is known as anonymous surfing and achieved by the proxy acting as an intermediary between you and the source. The source site only sees the proxy, and not your computer that made the original request. Therefore, if you are based in Europe and connecting via a US proxy the source site will receive details of the proxy. This is a simple explanation, in reality the source site does have access to small pieces of information that can alert to the fact a proxy is being used. This information can and is occasionally used to block the request.

Types of proxy

There are three types firstly the transparent proxy, which is used differently (system performance) and is not anonymous and for this reason will ignore it. The two other types  (simple and elite) are anonymous as described above. The difference between a simple and an elite proxy is that when using a simple proxy, websites are potentially aware a proxy is being used, while the elite proxy doesn't reveal this information.
